“Best friends are a natural phenomenon seen all over the world. They are not genetic relatives, but rather humans who have chosen to attach themselves as close as family, creating unique rituals that differ between pairs”, that’s how the opening line of the film “Best Friends” by Lena Dunham for Rachel Antonoff sounds like. It rather sounds like a quote from a scientific movie or one of Woody Allen’s films, but definitely not like a fashion ad. Lena Dunham’s realism is all over this film – that’s the thing that attracts you most.
Rachel Antonoff’s new fall 2013 collection is called “Best Friends”, so she asked one of her “bff” who happens to be Lena Dunham to create a short fashion film. There’s no glamour, sparkle and unreal beauty that you can only see in editorials. This is as real as your life. Two best friends are living together and sharing their happiness, sadness and boyfriends. All the outfits are matching in one or another way, showing how the real friendship works. I suppose everybody knows what they’re talking about.
