Dion Lee, Sydney based designer, presented his collection for the next Spring/Summer season in New York fashion week. The performance took place in the Big Apple for the first time, however, it got quite much attention. The dark room with white boxes on the catwalk turned to one smaller rectangle and the show has started.
The collection seemed to be the continuing story of designer’s creations – the futuristic clothing with 3D patterns and innovative textiles. The new collection was a bit different from the last creations for warm season: more delicate shapes, longer skirts, turtlenecks and a bit less leather. However, the sexiness, lots of naked skin, uncovered belly and shoulders and deep splits on skirts are like a signature of Dion Lee. The splashes of baby blue, lime yellow, peach, salmon and plum colours add freshness to plain black and white, the see through organza creates some secret while neoprene seems to be like the armor on the lady’s body. Styled with absolutely minimalistic high heeled sandals it appears as an attractive combination. Oh, and how I could forget that gorgeous one piece swimming suit which is totally perfect for the holidays on the beach of Mediterranean sea… All in all, the collection seems to be a bit controversial – from pencil skirts to almost jogging pants, from bandeaus to huge jackets, from strong and tough materials to weightless and feminine fabrics. And still, it all comes to the whole piece of art which is wearable by a strong girl who is prepared to go out to get some fun.
