eBay is proud to introduce its all-new consignment service, offering users a direct channel to engage expert sellers who will skillfully list and sell their high-end items on their behalf. This service initially rolled out for designer handbags, is slated for expansion next year to encompass additional luxury categories, including jewellery and watches.
To kickstart this endeavour, eBay has forged a formidable partnership with Linda Lightman, the illustrious founder of Linda’s Stuff, a prominent luxury goods seller on eBay for over two decades. Linda brings an unparalleled wealth of expertise in the realm of selling designer products.
Tirath Kamdar, Global GM of Luxury at eBay, remarked, “Our utmost priority is to adapt to the ever-evolving needs of our customers and consistently delight luxury enthusiasts and sellers alike. The introduction of a consignment service complements the success of initiatives like Authenticity Guarantee and Certified By Brand, offering our customers even more trusted avenues for buying and selling within our marketplace.”
Consumers can now utilize eBay’s consignment service to list and sell new and pre-owned handbags from renowned brands such as Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Saint Laurent. The process is seamless, with the consignment partner overseeing every facet, from photography to pricing, ensuring that each listing is both competitive and professionally presented. Items eligible for listing at $500 or more will bear eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee checkmark, providing buyers with added confidence as items undergo eBay’s rigorous authentication process.
Linda Lightman, the visionary behind Linda’s Stuff, shared, “In the past 23 years, what began as a hobby has exceeded my wildest expectations. From its modest origins, Linda’s Stuff has blossomed into a multi-million-dollar enterprise on eBay. I am thrilled to be a partner in the launch of eBay’s consignment service, enriching eBay’s global community of shoppers with an even more extensive collection of luxury items.”
eBay’s consignment offering follows a series of recent fashion-related announcements, including the expansion of the Authenticity Guarantee service to encompass new and pre-owned streetwear from reputable brands like Kith, Off-White, Palace, and Supreme; the acquisition of Certilogo, an AI-powered authentication provider; and the debut of Certified by Brand, facilitating brands and authorized retailers in expanding their presence in the secondary market. With the introduction of consignment, eBay solidifies its standing as a trusted destination for luxury and fashion.
Here’s how eBay’s consignment service works:
– Users complete a straightforward consignment intake form by answering a few basic questions.
– Upon form submission, customers receive a prepaid, insured shipping label. All shipments remain insured throughout the shipping process.
– eBay, in collaboration with the consignment partner, takes care of item photography, pricing, and listing. Once an item sells, the consignor receives a percentage of the sale proceeds based on the item’s selling price.
