The Architecture Fund invites architects and spatial practitioners to participate in the fifth season of the Experimental Platform—an international mentorship and idea development program that this year will connect three cities: Vilnius, Helsinki, and Copenhagen. This is a unique opportunity to explore alternative architectural practices and present projects at the Copenhagen Architecture Biennale and an exhibition in Vilnius.
New Horizons for Spatial Practitioners
Since 2021, the Experimental Platform has served as an alternative education and mentorship program for emerging creators in architecture, design, urbanism, and related fields. By collaborating with mentors and the project community, participants not only develop their ideas but also gain new perspectives at the intersection of architecture, art, and social research.
This year’s program invites participants to engage in an international process, including a five-day residency in Helsinki, the presentation of experiments at the Copenhagen Architecture Biennale, and an exhibition in Vilnius. The key themes for this year are slowing down, sustainable creativity, and alternative approaches to architecture.
What Does Slowing Down Mean in Architecture?
Inspired by the Copenhagen Architecture Biennale’s theme, Slow Down, program curators Artūras Čertovas, Kamilė Vasiliauskaitė, and Aistė Gaidilionytė encourage participants to rethink architecture’s role in contemporary society. What if, instead of constant production and growth, we focused on reducing, mediating, caring, and observing?
Participants will have the opportunity to work with renowned international mentors, including architect and researcher Vano Ksnelashvili (Tbilisi/Copenhagen), musician and architect Tuomas Toivonen (Helsinki), researcher and architect Indrė Umbrasaitė (Vienna), and Paula Veidenbauma (Riga/Vienna), who explores the intersections of architecture and theatre.
Collaboration with International Partners
The fifth season of the Experimental Platform will be implemented in collaboration with Kulttuurisauna, a cultural sauna space in Helsinki curated by architect Tuomo Toivonen and artist Nene Tsuboi, as well as the Copenhagen Architecture Festival (CAFx), which is organizing the inaugural Copenhagen Architecture Biennale.
Call for Participants
Until March 2, the Architecture Fund invites creators to submit projects that explore the concept of slowing down through spatial practices—rethinking excess, material and energy resource circulation, consumerism, fast-paced work culture, and their relationship with the natural environment.
Selected participants will receive a €1,500 stipend and additional funding to implement their creative projects. Applications can be submitted until March 2.
Don’t miss the chance to join an international creative community and become a visionary of future architecture!
