Since its inception in 2010, Amouage’s Library Collection has been a canvas for the Omani High Perfumery house’s bold compositions. The collection, centered around the theme of knowledge, has explored diverse facets, from virtual realms to seduction and empowerment.
In the latest addition, Chief Creative Officer Renaud Salmon draws inspiration from the 1967 Salon De Mayo in Havana, where surrealists like Magritte and Picasso broke artistic barriers. Collaborating with perfumers Alexis Grugeon and Hamid Merati-Kashani, Salmon envisioned Opus XV as a piece of surrealist art. The result is an oud unlike any before, fiercely animalic yet sophisticated.
Opus XV opens with a bright mandarin, evolving unexpectedly with sensual amber, woodiness, and a striking oud. The fragrance mirrors the uniqueness of surrealism and the Salon De Mayo’s open spirit, offering endless surprises. The use of exceptional Oud Silver oil from Ajmal enhances the perfume’s distinctive personality.
Presented in the iconic khanjar flacon in a truffle shade, Opus XV features subversive artwork by Louise Mertens. The visual campaign, directed by Alexandra Reghioua, integrates sculptures by Juliette Zakowetz, creating an organic landscape for Opus bottles.
Opus XV – King Blue is a fruity, ambery, woody fragrance aged for 10 weeks, containing 35% pure perfume oils. With top notes of mandarin, blackcurrant, and pink pepper, heart notes of frankincense and amber, and base notes of sandalwood, oakwood, patchouli, Oud Silver, and leather, it delivers a surprising and unpredictable olfactive journey.
