Japan has been a source of inspiration for many artists – designers included. This time working for the McQ brand Sarah Burton turned her eyes to Japanese pop culture. The manga, to be exact. Yoshiyasu Tamura was asked to create a print that throughout the collection pops out on T-shirts, sweatshirts and a coat. You can also find a print with Japanese characters saying “London”. In general, this collection is greatly favoured across the Asia but was also noticed in Europe as well as the US by the younger shoppers.
In this season the designer decided to play with asymmetry and the contrast between black and white. These clothes are more likely to be worn by older costumers while colourful touches should be a pleasure for the youngsters. Burton created some tomboy looks with ankle-length jeans and a bit oversized leather jackets. Knee-length boots only strengthens this attitude and makes models look very hip. This time is all about the details, girls!
