The Dallas Opera (TDO) has unveiled its 2025/2026 season at the Winspear Opera House, featuring a compelling lineup of productions that are all new to Dallas, including company and U.S. premieres. Led by Ian Derrer, Kern Wildenthal General Director and CEO, and Emmanuel Villaume, The Mrs. Eugene McDermott Music Director, the season highlights timeless classics, powerful dramas, and an important first for the company.
A Season of Innovation and Tradition
Bizet’s Carmen (Oct 17, 19, 22, 25 & 26, 2025)
Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Bizet’s iconic opera, TDO presents the U.S. premiere of a production that authentically recreates the original 1875 Opéra-Comique staging, complete with historically inspired sets and costumes.
Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites (Nov 7, 9, 12 & 15, 2025)
A profound and moving drama, Dialogues of the Carmelites tells the true story of Carmelite nuns during the French Revolution. This powerful opera makes its Dallas Opera premiere in a visually striking new production.
Portman’s The Little Prince (Feb 6, 8, 11 & 14, 2026)
For the first time, The Dallas Opera presents an opera by a female composer. Rachel Portman’s 2003 adaptation of The Little Prince, based on the beloved French novella, offers an imaginative and family-friendly production with a libretto by Nicholas Wright.
Verdi’s Don Carlo (Feb 27 & March 1, 4, 7, 2026)
Returning to Dallas after more than 30 years, this grand four-act production of Don Carlo explores themes of power, love, and betrayal in one of Verdi’s most dramatic and masterful works.
