Spring in the Curonian Spit brings not only the awakening of nature but also inspiring cultural gatherings. The Lithuanian National Museum of Art’s Pamarys Gallery in Juodkrantė continues its unique project, “The Migrating Museum,” which has been delighting local residents and visitors for three years. This initiative is more than just an art exhibition—it is also a gastronomic experience, combining art and food tastings. This year’s events are scheduled for March 29, April 26, and May 17.
The project’s goal is to bring visual art closer to a wider audience, providing an opportunity to explore both classical and contemporary works. “The Migrating Museum” serves as a platform where professional art joins with the culinary discoveries of the local community. It is not only a space for artistic appreciation but also for promoting connections, dialogue, and discussion.
The first event of this season will showcase the work of photographer Remigijus Treigys. A member of the Lithuanian Photographers’ Union and a professor at the Vilnius Academy of Arts in Klaipėda, Treigys was awarded the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts. His works, spanning from the 1980s to today, capture vanishing objects and melancholic landscapes, where time seems frozen. His poignant, nostalgic, and subtly composed images, reminiscent of vintage photography aesthetics, reflect a deep connection to the past and the fragility of the present.
Enriching the artistic experience, the event will also offer a culinary journey. Local Nida resident Bernadeta Kazlauskienė, founder of “Closer to Nature Nida,” will invite guests to savor natural, wholesome delicacies. Her baked goods, rye bread, and other treats—crafted using local ingredients—embody the sustainability and harmony of the Curonian Spit. She poetically describes her products as “freshly baked relaxation in nature’s oven,” a sentiment that guests can experience firsthand.
Those eager to explore Remigijus Treigys’ photography and indulge in a unique tasting experience are warmly invited to the Pamarys Gallery on Saturday, March 29, at 2 PM. The event is free of charge, offering a wonderful opportunity to engage in both art and flavors in one of Lithuania’s most beautiful locations
