Since 80’s Japanese designers have affected European style tremendously and introduced a fresh and brand-new perspective on what fashion is all about. We have heard of Yohji Yamamoto, Rei Kawakubo and Miyake Issey but this time let’s to peek into the younger generation’s work.
Born in Hiroshima, Yasutoshi Ezumi has developed an intricate and modern style, which still maintains some aspects of the Japanese aesthetics combined with different Western influences. Before launching his own brand in 2010 he worked as an assistant in Alexander McQueen and as a knitwear designer in Aquascutum in London.
His Spring/Summer collection 2014 called “Architectonic” was introduced during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Tokyo. As designer states, his creating process is based on logic in everyday life, culture and society and this notion is presented brilliantly in the last collection.
Simple but strong colors such as white, brown, black, jade and mint green, bright blue, dimmed yellow create a soft and demure look, while the geometric shapes together with the flowy fabrics complement the body of the model. Ezumi’s minimalistic approach reveals his amazing sense of taste and ability to make woman look sexy and distinguished.
